I am renting my spare room out to a friend and I was wondering what would happen if he were to hurt himself in my home? Would I be liable or is he covered under my buildings insurance @ Norwich Union?

I don’t see how he would be covered by your buildings insurance. Norwich Union should be able to give you a direct answer though, you should call them up and ask them. But i think they will suggest that if you are worried about your cover that you should change to renters insurance as this will cover you and the tenant. I doubt it is that much more expensive, perhaps it is something for you to look into?
