We have a holiday home in Florida and I'm wondering whether it's better to get UK home insurance / USA home insurance? Some UK companies offer second home cover...

You may be better off getting holiday home cover because the insurance is designed to take into account those periods of time when the home is unoccupied. A regular home insurance will charge you more if you leave the property 'unattended' for long periods of time... Holiday home insurance also factors in other considerations for holiday home owners, like offering cover if you let out your home. Are you considering letting out your home? I think specialist cover might be more convenient than basic cover in the long run

We have a small place up in Westminster, Denver and we got a great quote from www.holidayhome.co.uk. It is true what the previous poster said, you need to get holiday home insurance, it’s not worth the risk of not having the company pay out when you say you were back in the UK.
