I'm thinking of signing up for home insurance from one of the supermarkets, probably M&S or Tesco. Does anyone have 'supermarket' home insurance? Marks and Spencer seem to have a good offer but I don't know if I should opt for a 'proper' insurer!

M&S insurance is provided by Axa Insurance, so this may put your mind at rest about the 'proper' insurer, ha ha! There's no disadvantage to buying 'supermarket' insurance if the policy is good. The policy you get is provided by Axa but you save 20% if you buy it online and you get M&S loyalty points too. If you look on the M&S website there's a table which compares their policy with that of other leading supermarkets – they seem to offer a bit more than the competition, like garden cover and unlimited contents cover. Since Axa are so established, I'd imagine M&S is a good bet! icon_wink.gif

Nowadays there are no "proper" insurers, you can have the exact same deal from Tescos as that from Direct Line. So i think as long as you know what to look out for and you know which the market is offering in terms of prices you will be fine with M&S or Tesco's.
