I am trying to get some information as I think I am going to have a problem getting contents insurance. Unoccupied cottage is the problem as it is a good little rental in 7/12 months but then the winter months are quite slow and as it is fully furnished I want to make sure that I can be completely covered for the whole time. I read somewhere that you can use buy to let home insurance but it only covers it for 90 days of non-occupancy. Is there any other way around it?

Can’t you just use the 90 days policy you said and then make sure someone stays in it for one night to start the 90days over again? I am sure that will be easier than trying to look for a specialist insurance that is most probably going to charge you through the roof.
