I called up NatWest telephone banking yesterday as there seems to have been some mistakes on my account. Twice I have been charged double for the same purchases. Its strange I had a look online and saw that when I ate out last week it was deducted twice from my account and again a couple of days ago when I bought some things from Boots. I am sure it wasn’t an error on their part as they did not ask me to enter my details again and wouldn’t have been able to just take the money twice. So I am guessing there is a problem with my card, and when I called them up the people were rude, arrogant and unwilling to help. They just told me to cancel the card that was it, no explanation, no apology, nothing, just that I should request a new card. I could have been in financially difficulty due to their error and I wasn’t even given an apology, I am adamant that I would like to make a complaint but I am not sure how to go about it. Do they record those phone calls? How do I go about complaining?

I would go in to your branch and see what the complaints procedure is, if they are unhelpful then just hand in a massive complaint letter to the manager. I did that and although I didn’t really get much for the inconvenience they had cause me (some money added to my overdraft) at least I felt like I had done something. Even though I doubt it made a difference.
