How much does it cost to use my debit card abroad (Barclays)?

I will be travelling around South America later this year for 5 months and want to know how much will I have to pay to use my debit card abroad? Barclays’ cards have always worked for me in Europe and not charged so much but as I am travelling for a longer period of time now I want to make sure that I won’t be paying a fortune just to use my card abroad. I mean I know it costs more to take money out and I will be hoping to use traveller’s cheques but if I need to use my card in shops etc will I pay a lot? |

You shouldn’t pay anything when using your card in a shop. The numbers you see on your statement should simply be the conversion of the currency in question in to Pounds.
