Gone are the days of one debit card per account and a choice of a regular credit card and a gold one! Suddenly there's a choice of about fifty bank debit cards icon_eek.gif – what are the differences??

Which kinds are you talking about? There have been different kinds for quite a while, depending on which types particular banks offer and the way you want to use it. For example, there are PIN and signature cards, depending on whether you're happy to use a code or want to sign the receipts: some older people prefer to sign as it's a system they know. You can also get debit cards that are backed by Visa or MasterCard although they're not credit cards... and there are now prepaid debit cards... hope this helps!

The differences about the actual cards are very limited they all do the same job. It just depends on what account you need, not what card. But its true some cards do have special functions such as point systems for your favourite store, cheaper use abroad or even charitable donations with every use. But most people don’t really care what card they have as long as the account is right.
