I have always been a Barclay’s customer and therefore am used to their banking services. But is it normal that when you ring Bank of Scotland Telephone banking services they ask you for your sort code and account number? Isn’t it a standard thing for them to ask your card number and then personal details to make sure that no one can have access to all of your details? Or is it safer this way as I suppose someone could steal your card but not your account number and sort code, unless its on your card……

No it is normal for them to ask for your sort code and account number, I even get asked this sometimes from Barclays I think it just depends, maybe they alter it to stop people from always using the same details. But either way I wouldn’t have thought it would make that much of a difference as you still have to go through the other security steps before getting through and most people don’t know those, so I am sure it would be safe.
