How to cancel a HSBC standing order?

I need to cancel the monthly payment that I make to my mobile insurance company. I need to save on some money and it is silly to keep this when I know that I need the money. How long does it take to cancel a HSBC standing order? I am planning to do it online now, but I know that the payment should be coming out in the next few days and I am not sure if it is too late. Will it be any quicker if I do it in branch? Or via telephone? |

I would say online is the fastest. I mean you are directly on the system then, and it shows you that the payee has been deleted so I wouldn’t worry about it just do it online |

But be careful, you need to inform the company also. Otherwise they will try to take the money out of your account anyway. The payment may even already be in the system waiting. So I would definitely call them too. |
