At university I got into debt with a credit card, and have been wary ever since. I travel a lot with my job and like to travel in my free time too, but find I'm sometimes at a disadvantage without a credit card. Does anyone have advice on how I can manage my travel finance with no credit cards?

You may be able to get a prepaid credit card that still enables payment abroad without creating a 'debt'. Essentially, you load money onto the card, much like a telephone card, and when you pay for items the money is taken off your balance. You can't overspend on a prepaid card – once you reach the limit, that's it! Depending on where you're travelling to you could also organise travellers cheques, or take cash. If you have access to a hotel safe you could leave your money in there and only take what you need for the day. I'm sure there aren't many places where you can't pay in cash!
