I have been reading up on credit ratings etc and I want to make sure that I am in the position to have a good credit rating by the time I finish uni and don’t want to get stuck like so many other graduates. So I thought the best way to go about it is to get on the credit wagon and get a credit card. I have been offered the NatWest student credit card but if I am completely honest I have absolutely no idea what I should be looking out for? Will I be charged for this card? I have had a look through and it seems as if not, but still wouldn’t that then mean that I could just not use it for the whoel year and not pay anything anyway

Yeah but isn’t this defeating the point? Didn’t you say you want to get a credit card to get a better credit rating, in order to do so you have to actually use the card. It doesn’t just automatically work by you taking out a card and automatically getting excellent credit rating, otherwise everyone would be doing just that. It is all about how much money you use on the credit card and the way that you pay it back. But yes the NatWest student credit card does seem to be free, you have no charges to pay, unless interest when you use the account.
