In the past I've run up credit card debts and defaulted on payments, so my credit history is not that great. I'm turning it around though and desperately need a car for my job: can anyone advise me on the best way to organise a poor credit car finance deal? |

Have you tried contacting your bank manager? If you have done a lot of your banking, including your recent 'reliable' banking transactions, with one institution you may be able to get the benefit of the doubt. Financing might lead to more financial difficulties in the long run, but if you can prove a steady regular income to your bank (they should be able to see this by checking your account anyway) then they may be prepared to arrange a small car loan for you. This gives you the chance to manage your finances under 'one roof' and avoid expensive financing deals from car dealers: remember a small loan is probably enough to buy an old banger! And if you explain to your bank manager you need a small reliable car to work, not a status symbol, they may be more lenient |

Can you not just use public transport while you save up for a banger? It seems that the way we live in the UK forces us to jump on a loan as soon as we want something, we don’t ever save for things anymore. People want people get seems to be the motto. Just sit down and think over your finances for a while. A car is a huge expense, if you can’t afford to buy one then how we you be able to keep one? Cars are expensive things to run, insurance, petrol, tax, up-keep…… think about it before jumping in to a poor credit finance deal!!!!! |

How about www.creditplus.co.uk They offer car loans to people who have bad credit and they are not so bad. Obviously the lower rates are for guaranteed loans, do you own a house? |
