My husband, my son and I are planning to do a road trip across Europe and as I do not drive we would like to insure my son also to split the driving with Harry. However I was wondering whether there are any age requirements when it comes to campervan insurance (Ireland)? Our son is only 23 but he has been driving for 5 years now and I would think that he would be classed as an experienced driver but my friend told me that perhaps the minimum age is 25. Is this true?

Perhaps the best way is to contact a few different companies and see whether they know. I would also suggest buying a copy of the Practical Motorhome magazine, it has all the different motorhome insurers in there so you’ll have a list of companies to contact.

We used Uswitch who compare all the different insurers and they came up with Adrian flux as the cheapest and it was possible our daughter was only 22. I am not sure if it makes a difference that you are in Ireland perhaps there are different regulations.
