I have recently moved to Australia and perhaps I don’t know the system well enough here yet but I am slightly confused about the car insurance quote AAMI gave me. I was recommended to use them by a work colleague but when I went online to try and use the online quote function they only let me choose from either comprehensive or third party property insurance. Do they not have the three types like us in uk? Is third party property most comparable to 3rd party insurance or does it have the advantages like 3rd party fire and theft?

I would say that it is most compared to 3rd party insurance, so either you go for lots of cover, or no cover lol. There cover is often a lot cheaper than ours though so I would try and have a look for fully comp. Have you also tried using the www.ratecity.au website? It compares various different car insurer prices so it could be good to check different companies not just AAMI.
