I was reading in to investing in different mutual funds and came across the Isa Exchange Trading Funds and was interested in finding out more. Is it still possible to get a tax free “wrapper” on the ISA ETF? I also am researching into tracker funds and was thinking which one would be better? Are there any tax differences between the two? |

The first problem you will probably run in to is actually finding a stock broker that sells ETF’s and has its own ISA’s. Once you have found one then you will definitely be able to profit from the tax-free benefits. I was lucky that Alliance and Leicester had ETF’s via its Self Select ISA but I am not sure if that is still possible, but its worth a try. I would say that the ETF’s are better than the trackers with regards to real-time trading, with the tracker you will have only one chance per day to trade but with ETF’s the options are vastly improved. |

Don’t completely stick with an ETF though. They lack diversification and to make any type of profit at all you need to have an overall view of the market and place money in different sectors and more importantly different countries. Also the tax free wrapper is of no relevance for you if you use a tax deferred account. Definitely seek further, professional advice as the number of choices can really be overwhelming.... |
