I was hoping to get one of the business loans Westpac offer but then a friend suggested I go with another lender as they have a deferment period. As I am starting up my own business it would be nice to know that I have a short time to get myself set up before I have to worry about paying things back. Do they not offer such a period as part of their loans too?

Unfortunately not I’m afraid. I have just had a quick skim over their website and it doesn’t seem to be anywhere in their T&C’s. But perhaps they can organize something for you. Maybe if they really do like your business plan they can arrange something, but you will have to be pretty convincing, or maybe they will charge you a bomb for it.
