I served my sentence a long time ago and have been out of trouble for 11 years. I have a great idea for a new business and would love to know if there are actually any lenders that would consider lending small business loans to ex-felons? Or perhaps if there any grants that do not discriminate against convicted felons? Does the severity of the crime you committed ever come in to question? If it was a small offense, say for example stealing, would it work in my favour that it wasn’t a dangerous crime and that I haven’t done anything like it since?

In my opinion a crime is a crime mate. You were convicted of something that was illegal I don’t see how that can be any different than someone convicted of something more severe who has also served his/her sentence. You did the time and you have been freed, but I think the fact that you haven’t done anything since will work in your favour. 11 years is a long time. Try the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance, https://www.cfda.gov/?s=main&mode=list&tab=list, I think that they should offer some kind of grant to help you out.
