I am just starting up my own business and it is a simple café where me, my brother and wife will work. As we are all family will I really need to take out this insurance as stated in the Employers liability act 1969 as really if something were to happen to them they wouldn’t sue me and I would pay for any charges anyway? Can someone simplify things for me?

Will they have a stake in the company? If so then you are exempt from the insurance as far as I am aware. Before it used to be that the insurance was compulsory to all firms regardless of size but then they decided to exempt those companies that were so small that only the owner worked there.

But do you think this is the same as 3 of them? I mean someone is the majority owner so I am not sure if it is the same.

No they will not have stakes in it, well my wife will somehow icon_wink.gif but not directly on paper. So I am guessing I need it right? How much do people pay for this type of insurance? Are there special brokers I need to go to?
