Inheriting State Second Pension

If your husband, wife or civil partner dies, you may be entitled to inherit their State Second Pension. You can inherit a maximum of fifty percent of your late partner’s State Second Pension. You may also be entitled to inherit a part of your late partner’s SERPS. Since these schemes all have different rules, you are advised to contact the Pension Service helpline for advice on your individual situation. For more general information on this issue, see State Pensions and Family.
