Winter Fuel Payments

facebooktwitter

If you are over sixty years of age, you may be entitled to a Winter Fuel Payment to help you cover the extra cost of heating your home during the coldest season. Winter Fuel Payments should be made automatically to people who qualify. You may get payments for one or more weeks in November and December. The amount that you are entitled to receive will vary depending on your personal circumstances. You will receive either £100 or £200, tax-free.

When you are over eighty years old you will also be entitled to some extra money, to encourage the elderly to keep warm rather than worry about heating their home. You will receive either £50 or £100 extra, depending on your circumstances. This means that if you are over eighty years old and surviving on a small income you could receive £300 tax-free in Winter Fuel Payments for one or more weeks.

If you have not received your Winter Fuel Payments by the 25th December, and you believe you are entitled, you can contact the Winter Fuel Payment Helpline on 08459 15 15 15. You can also contact your local benefits office if you require more information or advice.
