If you participate in the New Deal Over 50s scheme (see article on New Deal Over 50s Scheme) and require training to improve your existing skills or to learn a range of new ones, you may be entitled to a Training Grant to help cover the cost of your chosen training programmes. You may wish to learn more about computers, or take a First Aid course. If your personal advisor agrees that you would benefit from taking specific courses to enhance your skills and your chances of gaining or retaining work, they may recommend you for a Training Grant. If you are successful you could receive up to £1,500. £1,200 can be spent improving your skills and improving your value in the workplace. A further £300 is provided to help you learn new skills which would help you in the future. If you are interested in a Training Grant, ask your personal advisor on the New Deal Over 50s scheme for more information.
