New Deal for Partners of People on Benefits
If your partner receives one or more state benefits including Pension Credit, Incapacity Benefit, Income Support, Jobseeker’s Allowance, Severe Disablement Allowance or Carer’s Allowance, you could participate in the New Deal for Partners scheme. This is a voluntary scheme, but you may find that the scheme offers you valuable career and business advice which will enable you to make progress at work and reduce your family’s reliance on state benefits. If you choose to participate you will be allocated a personal advisor who can help you assess your financial situation, find childcare if necessary, cover travel costs, find work, assess your skills and locate useful training programmes. Your personal advisor can also inform you of how any current benefits might be affected, and what additional benefits you might be entitled to claim.
If you are interested in the New Deal scheme and have not yet been given any information about it, contact your local Jobcentre Plus or contact Jobcentre Plus direct on 0800 055 6688. You can also call Jobcentre Plus to enquire about current jobs on 0845 606 0234.
