Local Housing Allowance

facebooktwitter

Housing Benefit (see article on Housing Benefit) is undergoing reform and is becoming Local Housing Allowance. The expected date for Local Housing Allowance to come into effect was 7th April 2008. Local Housing Allowance will be calculated according to where you live and who you live with, and it is expected that the benefit will be paid into your account when there is a standing order to pay rent to your landlord, rather than be paid directly to the landlord as with the majority of Housing Benefit cases. Local Housing Allowance is expected to provide a clearer, easier service for tenants, with more responsibility and choice given to those people receiving the benefit.
