Claiming Over 80s Pension
If you think you might be entitled to the Over 80s Pension, see Over 80s Pension, contact the Pension Service on 0800 99 1234 for more assistance. If you are currently receiving a State Pension, see The Basic State Pension, you might be advised of your eligibility for the Over 80s Pension automatically. Others might find they are sent a claim form automatically a few months before their eightieth birthday.
If you are entitled to the Over 80s Pension this will be paid by direct debit into a bank account you nominate. It can also be sent to you as a cheque which you can cash at the Post Office®.
Your Over 80s Pension will be included in your retirement income when your entitlement to means-tested benefits is calculated. An Over 80s Pension will not usually benefit those people who are already receiving Pension Credit. For more information see Pension Credit. You must tell the Pension Service if your circumstances change, if you go abroad or if you go into hospital, so that they can be sure you are receiving all the correct benefits to which you are entitled.
