Age Restriction

There may be age restrictions imposed on current accounts by certain financial institutions. In general, sixteen, eighteen or twenty-one years of age are the most common age limits imposed. However, most banks will offer current accounts to young people who do not meet the age requirement; childrens' current accounts are usually available from age eleven, or even younger depending on the bank or building society in question. Childrens' current accounts will usually operate limited banking services, such as in-branch withdrawals only, but in return tend to offer higher interest rates. There is no maximum age limit imposed on customers wishing to open a current account.
