Specialist Financing

People who are approaching retirement age, or those who are relatively young, are sometimes seen as being more risky by potential lenders, due either to an increased chance of bad health or a lack of business and life experience. In order to reduce the likelihood that age discrimination will disadvantage business entrepreneurs, some schemes have been set up by charitable organisations, such as the Prince's Trust, to offer financial assistance and advice for 'risk' groups.

Some religious communities also require specialised sources of finance which take their beliefs into account. Paying or earning interest is forbidden by the Islamic religion for example, which means that Muslim business entrepreneurs may be disadvantaged in comparison to entrepreneurs of other religious backgrounds who are able to apply for traditional business loans. As a result, alternative 'ethical' loan solutions are on offer which are now widely available in many UK banks.
