Government Funding

The UK government does not typically offer business loans itself, but there are some government funded schemes such as the Small Firms Loans Guarantee scheme, which can help struggling businesses to gain finance. Grants may be available from the UK government, or from EU authorities, to aid businesses which are undertaking innovative research: especially those likely to have a positive impact upon the economic value of the country or continent as a whole.

Qualifying for these grants can however be a lengthy process, sometimes offering little or no significant reward at the end; it is worth studying the eligibility criteria in order to calculate whether or not the benefits of government funding outweigh the costs.
